WWI POSTER PROJECT

DUE: January 7, 2008

You are to create a poster that represents WWI. Your poster must include the following items:

1.  Poem - You are to write a poem. Your poem must be original and created by YOU. Do not take a poem off the internet and pass it off as your own. If you do, I WILL FIND IT, and you will earn a ZERO for your project, even if you only take a few sentences. I have included some sample poems about WWI which were created by students in another 9th grade world history class. These are just samples to help guide you, but should not be modeled. The key to a good grade on this is creativity.

 2.  Pictures & Information - Your poster should include the following items :

A. A creative title

B. New weapons of WWI - at least 4 different examples (pictures are acceptable)

C. Pictures of propaganda from WWI - at least 4 different examples

D. A picture of an important person from WWI - can be a war general, leader, spy, etc. Examples of people are on the back of this page.

E. 3 quotes from your person

F. Facts about your person

G. 5 major battles with dates and locations

H. A letter from a soldier (extra credit if you can find one from a local soldier)

3. Reflection Paper - Included with your poster needs to be a 5 paragraph essay explaining why you chose your person and what you learned about them. Also include what you enjoyed about the project as well as what you disliked about the project.

Possible People: Woodrow Wilson, General John Pershing, David Lloyd George, Gavrilo Princip, Kaiser Wilhelm II, Rubert Brooke, Archduke Francis Ferdinand, Alan Seeger, Red Baron (Manfred von Richthofen), John McGrae, Wilfred Owen, Mata Hari, Paul von Hindenburg, Seigfried Sassoon, Eddie Rickenbacker

Remember, posters don't need to be flat pieces of artwork, but interesting designs that really capture the events of WWI. Be creative in designing your poster. The more creative your poster is the better grade you will earn!
